We handle crew, passenger and stowaways claims across the world for a number of underwriters and owners. Depending upon the client’s requirement, we can provide a range of assistance ranging from assistance to local correspondents, written or oral advice, through to attendance at an incident, up to complete claims management of a major incident.

For underwriters and owners we provide advice and assistance to compliment in - house insurance claims facilities either on a case by case basis, or can provide such services as an entirely out - sourced facility.

For ship owners we can provide advice and assistance to compliment in - house insurance services either on a case by case basis, or can provide such services as an entirely out - sourced facility.

We have many years of experience of experience handling claims around the world. We have considerable experience of U.S. matters including both foreign and domestic crews, brown - water and fish - boat.

With an in-house doctor providing medical input, and the experience of handling every type of ‘people claim’, Marine Response is able to provide assistance to underwriters and owners in many situations. We have developed strategies to deal promptly and effectively with the aftermath of serious injuries in the U.K. , the U.S.A. , and worldwide. For incidents originating in technical mishaps (machinery failures; fires, explosions, lifting gear etc) we have the benefit of an in-house technical consultant.

For more unusual problems such as criminal investigations, including fraud and serious assault we work with an affiliated company, which can provide highly skilled investigators at short notice.

P & I/H & M Correspondent, Northern UK

Marine Response is able to act as a general P & I Correspondent throughout the North of the UK . We can provide owners and insurers with immediate assistance with any type of claim. As well as the services of our in-house surveyor, we can arrange other specialist support at short notice.

Technical Advice and Surveys

Our in - house Hull and Machinery consultant is available to provide advice and assistance in H & M related issues. As a former Technical Director in the ship building and repair industry, our surveyor has vast experience of the repair, maintenance and installation of high - tech plant and machinery including diesel - electric propulsion, crane-age and D.P. / diving systems. We are able to provide other technical specialists if required.

Medical Assistance - Repatriations

We arrange escorted medical repatriations worldwide. We respond instantly to requests for assistance and we will provide costed proposals within a very short time span. Once instructed, we will constantly monitor the situation and will ensure underwriters and owners are fully briefed upon developments.

We can arrange flights by both scheduled airlines and on chartered aircraft, both fixed wing and helicopter.

Our medical team will monitor developing cases on behalf of underwriters. ‘Doctor to Doctor’ telephone conferences allow us to provide accurate information on the condition and prognosis of the ill or injured crewman. This allows underwriters to take fully informed decisions on the future handling of the matter.

Undertaking, Funeral Services & Repatriation

We are able to provide quotes to prepare and repatriate deceased crewmen across the world. We are often able to secure substantial discounts on quotes obtained by local correspondents.

Medical Cost Control: UK and Abroad

Marine Underwriters and owners are often faced with the prospect of covering open - ended costs in hospitals abroad. In many cases, we can liaise with the hospital concerned and ensure that costs are properly monitored and contained. In the U.S.A, if involved at the outset, we can usually ensure that the patient is entered into the preferred provider system which ensures that underwriters have access to the best possible prices. This can represent discounts in the region of 30 - 40% on the quoted prices. In the UK and EU, it is often possible to negotiate favourable rates, or even take advantage of bilateral treaties to reduce or remove the medical costs.

Pre Employment Medicals (PEMEs)

We have set up comprehensive PEME schemes in a number of countries including S.E Asia and FSU. The schemes impose a controlled regime of pre employment examination upon seafarers ensuring that they are in every way fit to undertake their proposed voyage. In the first year of operation of one particular scheme in the Ukraine, estimated savings of over US$1Million were achieved.
